The Jeep Compass and Renegade Go Electric

By Justin Cupler | March 8th, 2019

With customers clamoring for more fuel efficiency, the Jeep brand delivers on these demands with a pair of electrified SUVs that still offer the off-road capabilities our Jacksonville area buyers expect. Meet the Jeep Compass Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle and Jeep Renegade PHEV.

The Jeep Renegade PHEV and Jeep Compass PHEV will each boast a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and electric motors to create between 190 and 240 horsepower and immediate torque delivery. This gives the Renegade PHEV and Compass PHEV spritely 0-to-60 times of roughly seven seconds.

As a proper Jeep SUV should be, the Renegade and Compass PHEV come standard with all-wheel drive, but instead of using a drive shaft to power the rear wheels, they use their rear electric motors to drive the rear axle, creating the new e-AWD system. The increased torque from the electric motors makes it even better off-road.

On a full charge, these Jeep PHEV SUVs will travel up to 31 miles on electric power alone and up to speeds of 80 mph.

Inside, the PHEV SUVs will feature an updated infotainment system and instrument cluster that allows the driver to keep close tabs on their efficiency and energy usage.

We haven’t received the official date the Jeep Renegade PHEV and Jeep Compass PHEV will hit the Garber Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM showroom in Green Cove Springs, Florida, but out Jacksonville, Orange Park, and Fleming Island buyers can rest assured we will pass on the official release date one we know it. Until then, keep an eye on our online inventory page to see what Jeep models we have in stock for you today.
